Wenonah Louis and Clark Edition Prospector 15' Royalex Canoe
Jack's Take
I think this is a great canoe. If you only could buy one canoe, and wanted to do both river and lake paddling for recreational purposes, this would be my pick. It takes a bit getting used to, if you are used to a flat bottomed lake canoe, as this canoe has a much more rounded bottom. It also has a 2.5" rocker, which translates into faster turns. It also has no external keel, so you can turn quickly to maneuver around rocks. At a mere 59 lbs, it is light enough that a portage is not torture. I can easily carry this canoe by myself, since it has a built in yoke. It may feel a bit more unstable when you are sitting upright(primary stability), but has much better stability when in waves or leaning (secondary stability) than flat bottomed boats, like my Grumman.
